I’ve been reading Jung Chang’s latest book Big Sister, Little Sister, Red Sister. This is what one of the sisters, May-ling, thought of her brother-in-law Sun Yat-Sen. Remind you of anyone?

Clive Cussler

March 6, 2020

This is from the Guardian’s obituary of the author Clive Cussler. I haven’t read any of his books, but I do recall going to see the film of ‘Raise the Titanic’ when I was young. Apparently Cussler hated it. I can’t remember what I thought. Anyway, the point is that I am very impressed he was able to write after putting the kids to bed. When I put the kids to bed, I feel utterly dead afterwards: barely capable of thinking, let alone writing. And there is always a ton of clearing up to do. How did he do it?

‘Spare time after putting them to bed’? What does that mean?
